إمرأة ضاقت أحوال زوجها فذهبت إلى رجل ميسور الحال ، وطرقت الباب ، فخرج أحد الخدم وقال لها :
ماذا تريدين؟ .
فقالت : أريد أن أقابل سيدك .
فقال : مَن أنتِ ؟ .
قالت : أخبره أنَّني أخته .
الخادم يعلم أنّ سيده ليس عنده أخت ، فدخل وقال لسيده :
إمرأة على الباب تدَّعي أنّها أختك .
فقال : أدخلها .
فدخلت فقابلها بوجهٍ هاشّ باشّ ، وسألها من أيّ إخوتي يرحمك الله ؟ .
فقالت : أختك من آدم .
فقال الرّجل الميسور في نفسه : إمرأة مقطوعة والله سأكون أوّل مَن يصلها .
فقالت : ياأخي ربّما يخفى على مثلك أنّ الفقر مُرُّ المذاق ، ومن أجله وقفت مع زوجي على باب الطّلاق فهل عندكم شيئاً ليوم التَّلاق؟ فما عندكم ينفد وما عند الله باق .
قال : أعيدي .
فقالت : ياأخي ربَّما يخفى على مثلك أنّ الفقر مُرُّ المذاق ، ومن أجله وقفتُ مع زوجي على باب الطّلاق ، فهل عندكم شيئاً ليوم التَّلاق ؟ فما عندكم ينفد وما عند الله باق .
قال : اعيدي ، فأعادت الثّالثة ، ثمَّ قال في الرّابعة : أعيدي .
فقالت : لا أظنّك قد فهمتني وإنَّ الإعادة مذلَّة لي ، وما اعتدتُ أن أذلَّ نفسي لغير الله .
فقال : والله ما أعجبني إلّا حسن حديثك ، ولو أعدتِ ألف مرَّة لأعطيتك عن كلِّ مرّة ألف درهم .
ثمّ قال لخدمه : أعطوها من الجمال عشرة ، ومن النّوق عشرة ، ومن الغنم ما تشاء ، ومن الأموال فوق ما تشاء لنعمل شيئاً ليوم التّلاق فما عندنا ينفد وما عندالله باق.
