Assalamu'alaykum...
I am Arab-Malaysian, 39, 5’6” tall. I lived and worked most of my life in Malaysia (minus my 4 undergraduate years in Chicago, and some other years working in Sudan and Italy). I’m currently a Healthcare Chaplain / Emotional-Spiritual Counselor at Stanford Hospital, California. I am also pursuing a master’s degree in Islamic Studies and Interreligious Chaplaincy at the Graduate Theological Union, Berkeley.
Prior to this, I was in engineering and the corporate world for over a decade, while also volunteering for disaster relief, hospice, Islamic and interfaith non-profit organizations. After some mid-life considerations, family changes - death of my father, and my divorce (no kids), as well as deciding to pursue my passion, Allah led me to move to the US just over a year ago to pursue graduate education and professional training.
I love being in nature and reflecting on our Rabb and His creations, which to me is probably Allah's greatest gift for us. I especially come alive around water-related activities, be it walking by the beach/river, swimming, scuba diving, snorkeling... you get the point
When I get cranky, feed me with vitamin sky, sea, sun, streams or thunderstorms… and a long hug. I also enjoy camping/roadtrips, reading, and bringing together gatherings of friends and food.
Pray – Play – Peace - Passion for Purpose. The four elements I’m hoping to build together in a marriage. I’d appreciate us living a life of purposeful worship together (in a wider definition of worship, beyond the literal solat and fasting). I’m looking for a companion to be playful with, and find peace in resting together… in the exhaustion of the world, may our home, and each other’s embrace be our source of comfort and rejuvenation.
