I have always been fascinated by the diversity of people; since my father is Syrian and my mother descends from Turkey, and I grew up having friends from different sects, religions and nationalities that certainly broadened my horizons, and gave me a better understanding of co-existence. I graduated from the University of Damascus, from the department of English Language and Literature. I always had a passion for learning new languages which pushed me to start learning German at the Goethe Institute in Damascus during my BA in English Literature. At the Goethe Institute, I helped international researchers studying sociology and anthropology in Syria, which inspired me to gain knowledge to serve humanity and the region.
But after graduating with a BA in English Literature in 2013, geopolitical instability hindered my ambitions, and I was forced to delay working on my Master’s, leaving Damascus for Istanbul.
But that did not diminish my desire to seek knowledge, so I started attending a wide range of study circles related to classical and current Islamic thought and Sufism. While attending these classes, I understood the miraculous nature of Islam that brought all these different ethnicities in these circles together. Today I am not only fluent in English and Arabic, but also have an excellent foundation of communication skills in Turkish.
